We are continuously asked by prospective members “Why should I join Janesville Area Rental Property Association (JARPA)?”
Our first reaction is to respond to the question and ask them why they don’t already belong to the largest trade organization in their industry that has been tirelessly advocating for their rights and businesses since 1974.
JARPA and Wisconsin Apartment Association (WAA) has saved our industry millions of dollars fighting unfair laws and ordinances. We have been at the forefront of issues ranging from lead paint to property recording fees. We are the only landlord organization in the Janesville area, representing Landlords. There are several reasons why you should join the JARPA, a member agency of WAA.
There is strength in numbers
The old adage, there is strength in numbers, applies to landlords. Often, the power of many can overcome circumstances that would not be feasible individually. JARPA greatly believes in this philosophy and the power we have when we join together. We consist of over many landlords in the Janesville area. We encourage the mindset that alone we cannot fight the great strength of the local and state government, but together we can. We are continually advocating for landlord’s rights. We are on the leading edge in protecting landlords from unjust laws and regulations. By joining the JARPA, you are joining a team of landlords in the Janesville area, with the common goal of protecting your rights to continue to operate your business is a fair environment.
Our organization contains members of a variety of ages and experience levels. At each meeting you will have the chance to meet and converse with other landlords. All can learn innovative ideas from one another and this opportunity will give you insights that you can incorporate in to your business development.
We are fortunate to have a great relationship with a premiere landlord tenant attorney within Wisconsin Legal Blank. Tristan Pettit’s reputation for vigorously defending landlords is laudable and the respect he garners from his peers and commissioners is undeniable. By attending meetings, you will also be aware of new regulations being passed, as well as what is going on in the community. Monthly speakers offer members relevant information, education, and contacts. Most importantly, by attending meetings you will be able to network with other landlords in the organization and learn from their experiences within the local market. We strongly believe that everyone has something to bring to the table and meetings can be a great chance to learn more about the industry and ways to improve your business.
Our community has an interest in the success of others and will not hesitate to field questions from new landlords who are full of energy and very inquisitive about the nature of this business. You will have the opportunity to ask questions or learn how to handle certain situations from experienced landlords. On the flip side, new investors have many skills and insights with technology that tenured investors may benefit from learning. No matter the experience the member, everyone has something to bring to the table. Many experienced landlords love that JARPA is a venue for those who have received help historically to give back and provide those who are new to the business and hungry for information an opportunity to meet others who have been where they are going.
There are countless other reasons to join the JARPA. I encourage all to attend a meeting and learn more about our great association!
